The CSI Effect Does It Really Exist?

This is my opinion of CSI programming on TV although the want and need for Crime Scene Investigators has risen over the last ten years. TV gives the improper depiction of what Crime Scene Investigation involves.  I personally have stopped watching most all crime scene shows even though the technology is evident on the criminal shows lack of the back ground investigation processes that are unable to be shown simply because they are lengthy. Television shows do not depict processes that are performed by real world investigators because the TV show would have to be longer than the 30 minute to an hour episode. The want to be an investigator is evident  the CSI field takes an overall knowledge that is accumulated over time it is not a start up field, investigation of crime scenes involve a basic knowledge of world events and over knowledge of the criminal mind. This combined of what a CSI agent should look for on a crime scene DNA analysis, finger print, footprint, serology, weapons analysis, ballistics, object analysis all come under Crime Scene Investigation.

Understanding CSI is a fascinating area of police force work that holds value in real world circumstances of figuring out who, what, how, and why a crime has occurred. The study for such fields is tremendous the lack of overall knowledge keeps people out of the Crime Scene Investigation realm simply because the field takes much more study than other fields that my pay the same amount or better.

Court TV is a tremendous advancement that allows regular people to be able to see trails that are in progress the evidence process and questioning of witnesses is valuable to the Justice Department. Understanding the reason why an action may produced a criminal act is very interesting. The procedure of the lawyer and how they conduct themselves in court helps the public stay on guard against crime.  Other disappointing facts of the jury are high expectations of technology to prove the suspect to be guilty. This high expectation of the jury honestly makes the Crime Scene Investigation field one of the hardest fields in American society.

The Psychological Effect

The psychological approach to the study of law is the fact that laws are made to resolve conflict. New laws are implemented to represent new theories that can resolve conflicts immediately.  Laws are implemented to solve a large verity of problems. Such laws as speed limit, cash receipts and legal binding papers that document purchases protect citizens from being injured and swindled. One  of the dilemmas in law that are associated with the psychological approach to law are whether the aim of the law is to make a proper discussion or does it conflict with equality and rights. An employer has two applicants that are applying for the same job one lives in a poorer neighborhood than other the employer then hires the applicant that lives in the better neighborhood.  The psychological view of the employer is that if the person lives in a better neighborhood their values are higher than the one who lives in the poor neighborhood even though the decision may be contradicting legal  the discussion  represents unequal.Another example of a dilemma in the law is to apply laws due to science or by the regulation. You have a speed limit change going down a steep hill. The speed limit is slower than what it was when traveling up the hill, simple mathematics tells the court that a vehicle speeds up when going downhill.  Yet the speed limit sign displays negligence on the driver’s side to adhere by the law.

The Role Of The Psychologist

The Psychologist plays an important role in the law enforcement area of criminal justice. They evaluate criminals to find their state of mind. This evaluation may lead to a capture because the criminal may have mental disorders that have to be attended to on a regular basses. If a criminal leaves a ransom note, you can tell if they are in distress by the type of handwriting that the criminal displays on the note. Psychological disorders such as mental disorders could prohibit the capacity of learning of the criminal. They may not understand that their actions are not civilized and go against our grain making them more dangerous such as gang member that sell drugs.

Positive Criminology

Positivist Criminology is not applicable to explaining crime in today’s world. Positivist Criminology does not explain the reason why people commit crime. It instead groups individuals by physical ties that are common to living standards of their society.  A statistical environment based solely on social and physical iniquities that link crime to groupings of people is not a good enough explanation of criminal acts. This is where outstanding factors change the criminals overall thinking process such as thought provocation and feelings. Exposure to pressure induced by living factors does not force individuals into a life composed of criminal activity, although this may build adequate evidence against the suspect. We must find out the reason why a person commits criminal acts.
