Importance of Trace Evidence

Trace evidence is physical evidence left behind by the victim or suspect that may add up clues to solve a given case. These clues include micro evidence, impressions, gun shoot residue, clothing items, hit and run examiners, and forensic garage.

This evidence is important to solving cases because it suggests a time frame that leads to the crime enactment. Certain items left such as lipstick of a victim left on a glass by a person may give you a lead on what the victim was doing at the time they were enforced upon..
Trace evidence can be a number of items such as hair, polymer, soil, paint, fiber, glass, impressions, skin, fire arms, fluids, and blood flakes.

Once trace evidence has been found and sent to the lab a number of microscopes are able to identify the evidence. Some of these microscopes are stereomicroscope, polarized light microscope, comparison microscope, visible microscoopectrophotometer, and scanning electron microscope.

Other forensic tools for trace evidence are the pyrolysis Gas Chromatograph-mass spectrometer, modified griess test, and the sodium rhodizinate test.
