Documenting the crime scene is next to number one priority. Keeping your documentation clean and free of errors is very important. Many agencies and departments complain about faulty documentation when reopening a case. You never want to receive a call from an Investigator that has reopened a case from twelve years ago that you know nothing about telling you as the investigator that your paper work is not up to pair.
